Why Only One?

Why Only One?

One Location, By Design

Since the very first month we opened our doors, we've been met with the most incredible compliment.

When are you opening another location?

Hearing you want more of what we've built is something we never take for granted.

We've had the meetings. We've spoken with investors, city developers, and authorities in Colorado, and even in other states.

We've received incredibly flattering offers and have heard very attractive pitches.

We always listen, and we always take a moment to imagine what that future might look like.

But every time, we've chosen to stay right here.

Expansion at a Cost

We've all seen it happen: a brand grows and something shifts.

That original impact, the feeling of a single, focused space, can start to blur.

Building a team that can represent a vision daily is hard enough.

And doing it across multiple locations, without losing the essence of what made the business special in the first place?

To be completely honest, we aren't sure it's possible.

A Labor of Love

Our shop is an all-consuming passion, and sometimes one that doesn't respect hospital hours.

Over the past three years, and through seven different surgeries, we've been on the clock, buying coffee and paying bills right up until the moment the anesthesia kicked in.

We do not see this as a burden, and we certainly do not take the rigor of this life for granted.

We see it as the echo of loving what we've built.

It's a level of intensity that makes us deeply protective of our vision, especially when thinking about how to grow without thinning that devotion.

Our History

Before Dark Heart, we ran a furniture and fabrication business. By design, it was just the two of us, managing, building, and pouring our hearts into thousands of pieces.

We infused that same 'builder's soul' into Dark Heart, constructing every square inch of the cafe and roastery ourselves.

While it now takes a full (incredible) team to serve our community every day, the blueprint remains unchanged: to share what we love in a space that maintains that original soul.

Protecting the Connection

We believe opening more locations might harm our original vision.

We never want to risk losing the personal connection we have with you, our customers.

We've watched young people grow up in our cafe, and we still end every single day sharing stories about the great people we have met and continue meeting.

We are one location by design because we believe too much of a good thing is usually just too much.

We wouldn't be here without the most loyal customers in the world, and we want to make sure every cup we serve stays true to that standard.

Thank you for being the heartbeat of our space and for allowing us to do what we love, every single day!
